AF 488 is a fluorescent dye. AF 488 is a fluorescent group that is insensitive to pH values within a wide pH range (4 to 10). In the green spectral region, it exhibits maximum absorption at 495 nm and maximum emission at 519 nm. This dye is hydrophilic and can be used to introduce fluorescent markers into various molecules, including proteins and antibodies. The molecular conjugate with AF 488 has high brightness and photostability, and is commonly used in flow cytometry and microscopy. This makes it possible to detect biological objects with high sensitivity over longer imaging times. In click chemistry reactions, whether with copper (I) catalyst (containing terminal alkynes) or without catalyst (containing cycloalkynes), AF 488 azide will interact with the alkynyl groups of biomolecules to form stable adducts.
