Description Protocol Chemical Properties Product Documents

Calcium Orange AM is an acetoxymethyl (AM) ester derivative commonly used as an indicator for detecting intracellular calcium. The AM ester group modifies the calcium indicator into an uncharged molecule that can permeate cell membranes but does not enter acidic vacuoles. After entering the cell, Calcium Orange AM is cleaved by intracellular esterase to form a charged form of indicator, which is retained in the cell. Specific fluorescence can be detected after the calcium indicator combines with free calcium, and the maximum excitation wavelength and emission wavelength are 549/576 nm respectively.
