Lactic acid sodium is a product of glycogen breakdown and glycolysis. Lactic acid sodium is an organic salt mainly used as a buffering agent and pH regulator for injection solutions. Lactate sodium can be metabolized by the human body into sodium bicarbonate, which in turn increases blood pH. Lactate sodium can also be used to improve metabolic acidosis and low blood volume status. In terms of pharmaceutical preparations, Lactate sodium is often combined with sodium chloride, glucose, etc. to form physiological saline or compound liquid intravenous injection. Lactate sodium also has antibacterial activity and can be used as a food preservative.
