Tat-AKAP79 (326-336) is a peptide composed of the HIV-1 Tat protein transduction domain linked to an 11-amino acid peptide corresponding to residues 326-336 of A-kinase anchor protein 79 (AKAP79).1 It inhibits protein kinase A (PKA) or PKC activation-induced sensitization of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) in isolated rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons when used at a concentration of 200 µM. In vivo, Tat-AKAP79 (326-336) inhibits nocifensive behavior induced by formalin or phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate in mice. It also increases the latency to paw withdrawal from a radiant heat stimulus and increases the mechanical threshold force to paw withdrawal in a mouse model of carrageenan-induced inflammatory pain.
