Kushenol A (Leachianone E) wird aus der Wurzel von Sophora Flavescent isoliert. Kushenol A ist ein nicht-kompetitiver Tyrosinase-Inhibitor zur Blockierung der Umwandlung von L-Tyrosin zu L-DOPA, zeigt IC50- und Ki-Werte von 1,1 μM bzw. 0,4 μM. Kushenol A ist ein Flavonoid-Antioxidans, hat hemmende Wirkungen auf Alpha-Glucosidase (IC50: 45 μM; Ki: 6,8 μM) und β-Amylase. Kushenol A wird als potenzieller Inhibitor von Enzymen bestÄtigt, die von Kosmetika zur Hautaufhellung und -alterung eingesetzt werden.
