Phosphatidic acid is a simple and basic glycerophospholipid. It is an ester of glycerol with two long chain fatty acids at C1 and C2 position and phosphoric acid at C3 position. PA is synthesized by the hydrolytic action of phospholipase D on glycerophospholipids
Egg PA is suitable for use:
• in the preparation of reconstituted high density lipoprotein (rHDL) along with serum amyloid A (SAA)
• as negatively charged lipid in the preparation of giant unilamellar vesicles
• in the preparation of liposomes
