8-Bromoadenosine 5'-triphosphate (8-Br-ATP) is an analog of ATP and an agonist of the purinergic P2X receptor.1 It induces contraction of isolated guinea pig bladder strips with a potency that is 0.19-fold that of ATP. 8-Br-ATP has been used in the determiniation of the nucleotide substrate specificity of yeast poly(A) polymerase.2 It is cytotoxic to multiple myeloma cells (IC50 = 23.1 μM).3
