Green fluorescent protein eGFP is a fluorescent reporter gene commonly used in molecular biology research. eGFP mRNA can directly express protein in the cytoplasm without relying on a promoter. The protein expression speed is faster than transfected DNA. The protein expression amount is directly related to the transfection amount of mRNA, and there is no risk of gene integration. Cells transfected with eGFP mRNA can express strong and bright green fluorescent protein eGFP, with excitation/emission wavelengths of 488 nm/509 nm respectively. eGFP mRNA can be used as a standard to test the transfection efficiency of different transfection reagents, and can also be used as a control to study the transfection and expression of fluorescent proteins in mammalian cells.
By simulating the mRNA processing process in eukaryotes, the product has a Cap 1 cap structure at the 5' end and a poly(A) tail at the 3' end, which increases the stability and translation efficiency of the mRNA[1].
