Le Fibronectin Adhesion-promoting Peptide (Trp-Glu-Pro-Pro-Arg-Ala-Arg-Ile) présente un intérêt médical ainsi qu'une structure bien caractérisée. D'un point de vue application médicale, cette séquence (WQPPRARI) a été trouvée dans le domaine de liaison à l'héparine en terminaison carboxylique des répétitions III14 de la fibronectine. C'est un puissant inducteur de fibres de stress et d'adhésion focale chez les fibroblastes, impliqués dans la formation de thromboses liées à des maladies telles que les maladies cardiovasculaires athéroscléreuses.
Le Fibronectin Adhesion-promoting Peptide a un faible poids moléculaire de 1114,25 g/mol et ne possède pas de structure secondaire d'un point de vue structurel. En tant que tel, l'adsorption irréversible basée sur des changements conformationnels induits par la surface est censée être peu importante. Cependant, ce peptide offre une structure suffisamment grande pour être analysée par l'instrument BIAcore X SPR, qui a une limite de détection d'environ 200 Da. Par conséquent, la SPR a été utilisée pour mesurer les propriétés d'adsorption du Fibronectin Adhesion-promoting Peptide sur la surface polymère. Le capteur SPR de l'adsorption du Fibronectin Adhesion-promoting Peptide sur la surface confinée de poly(2-vinylpyridine) a été réalisé à différentes concentrations de peptide (en mg/mL) dans le tampon HEPES pH 7 : 0,1, 0,2, 0,3, 0,4, 0,5, 0,6, 0,8, 1,0 et 1,5, à T = 25 °C. Le débit était de 40 μL/min.
De plus, le Fibronectin Adhesion-promoting Peptide favorise directement l'adhésion, l'étalement et la migration des cellules RCE de manière dépendante de la concentration.
