Pyrrolidino PAF C-16 is a synthetic analog of PAF C-16 with hypotensive action [1][2].

Platelet activating factor (PAF; C16), a phospholipid mediator of inflammation, is secreted by several cell types including arterial endothelial cells, and can activate polymorphonuclear leucocytes and monocytes via specific cell surface receptors. PAF also stimulates the production of active oxygen species by human monocyte - derived macrophages. PAF have potent hypotensive activity. C16-PAF was about three times more potent than C18-PAF in the activity of releasing serotonin [1][2].

Pyrrolidino PAF C-16, a synthetic analog of PAF C-16, is a potent mediator of PAF-like activities, including hypotension and platelet aggregation [1][2].

In male Wistar rats, Pyrrolidino PAF C-16 dose-dependently decreased blood pressure and the duration of the hypotension was also dose-dependent. Pyrrolidino PAF C-16 was 3-10 times more potent than natural PAF in the hypotensive activity [1][2].
