CM1 is able to penetrate hepatocytes and relatively non toxic. Potential therapeutic for patients suffering from thalassaemia related iron overload Moreover, CM1 shows an inhibitory effect on the growth of Plasmodium falciparum (malaria parrasite; IC50 value 35 µM).
