ファルネシルジホスフェートファルネシルトランスフェラーゼ（FTase）の蛍光基質。ペンタペプチドは、H-RasのC末端領域にダンシル基が付加されたものです。システインチオール基のファルネシル化により、極性から非極性分子環境にダンシル基が配置され、蛍光強度が増大し、ダンシル基の発射最大波長が低くなることに伴います。生成物の完全変換により、発射最大波長は565 nmから515 nmへ減少し、505 nmで13倍以上の蛍光強度増強を示します。Dansyl-GCVLSは、340 nmで励起することで505 nmでFTase活性を連続的に監視するために使用できます（kcat = 0.5 s?¹; Km = 1.4 µM）。これは潜在的なFTase阻害剤をスクリーニングする有用なツールです。この基質はFTaseに高い特異性を持ち、ゲラニルゲラニルトランスフェラーゼタイプI（GGTase I）では認識されません。 Dns-GCVLSのストック溶液の濃度は、ダンシル部位の消光係数（ε??? = 4250 M?¹cm?¹ in 20 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, 10 mM EDTA）から計算できます。
