Se-Methylselenocysteine (hydrochloride) (MSC)은 세렌시스틴 메틸화의 유도체로 자연적인 단일메틸화된 셀레노 아미노산이다. Se-Methylselenocysteine은 주로 항노화, 셀레늄 보충, 심혈관/뇌혈관질환 치료 및 항산화에 사용된다[1]. Se-Methylselenocysteine은 구강 내 복용이 가능하고 세포의 조기사기를 유발한다[2,3].
Se-Methylselenocysteine (100-400 µM; 3일)은 SKOV-3 유방암 세포에서 칼파인에 의해 중계되는 캡사스 활성화와 Bax 분해를 통해 조기사기를 유도한다[4]. Se-Methylselenocysteine (200 µM; 24시간)은 EA(elaidic acid)에 의해 인한 세포 생존력 저하를 효과적으로 되돌릴 수 있다[5]. 최적 농도인 1 µM의 Se-Methylselenocysteine은 클러스터린(Clu)-nockdown에 의해 야기된 항산화 능력, Bcl2/Bax 비율 및 캡사스-8 활성화의 변화를 되돌려 조기사기를 억제하고 세포 생존력을 유지할 수 있다[6].
Se-Methylselenocysteine (0.2 mg/쥐; 구강 투여; 연속 14일)은 인간 FaDu 및 A253 머리 및 목 부위 이식물을 가진 나체 쥐에서 Cisplatin (cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (CDDP))과 Cyclophosphamide의 항종 활성을 증진시킨다[7]. Se-Methylselenocysteine (0.3 /1/3 mg/kg; 10주; 구강 투여) 치료는 간 손상을 완화시켰다. Se-Methylselenocysteine 농도가 증가함에 따라 쥐의 간 조직 손상도는 점차적으로 감소했다[8].
