PapRIV is a quorum-sensing heptapeptide originally isolated from B. cereus.1 It is translated as a 48-amino acid polypeptide, which is secreted and extracellularly processed by NprB proteases to form the active heptapeptide.2 PapRIV (1-25 µM) induces IL-6 and TNF-α production by, and NF-κB translocation in, BV-2 microglia cells.1
