It is an active metabolite of fenfluramine and benfluorex that acts as an agonist at serotonin (5-HT) receptors (IC50s = 6.92, 3.55, 0.17, and 2.09 µM for 5-HT1A, 5-HT1B, 5-HT1C, and 5-HT2 receptors, respectively, in murine brain). Norfenfluramine induces anorexia in mice and rats with EC50 values of 6.8 and 0.8 mg/kg, i.p., respectively. This product is intended for research and forensic applications.
