D-(+)-Ribonic acid γ-lactone is an oxidized derivative of ribose and a synthetic material.[1] It has been used as a starting material in the synthesis of the ionophore antibiotic lasalocid , the natural products aristeromycin and (−)-neplanocin A , as well as an intermediate in the synthesis of ganglioside GM1 mimetic cholera toxin binder ligands.1,2,3
